That’s Entertainment: The Kris Aquino Show

By N Mark Castro

Anyone who has recently made the mistake of switching on their TV sets or flipping open the newspaper in the Philippines — whether online or offline — is mostly likely aware of the most recent drama unfolding before presidential sister and showbiz star Kris Aquino and erstwhile husband James T. Yap.

Nothing beats The Kris Aquino show! Nothing!

First, she defies her president mother in entering showbusiness, chases a married basketball player, then lives in with an old actor who’s also married, then gets involved with another former basketball player who’s also married, then announces she has acquired STD on national TV, then marries a rising basketball player and vowed to his parents that she’ll take care of him, gets her marriage annulled several years later, and is now accusing him of sexually assaulting her.

If the circus wasn’t enough.

Her sisters rallied around her, parades themselves on national television, and enjoins the entire country to support her and pray for her.

Presidential Sisters …

More fun in the Philippines.

Those men are the most visible ones, of course, it did not include her flings and other short-lived romances.

But her resilience from grave scandals is so much so that she continues to be the Number One Product Endorser in the country, which makes you think the kind of values that those companies have in retaining her.

And why not?

Kristina Bernadette, popularly known as “Kris”, is an offspring of the politically charged and old rich Cojuangco-Aquino family: her father, Benigno Aquino, Jr. is considered a modern-day martyr that fought the Martial Rule of the Marcos Administration, whose death catapulted his wife and Kris’ mother, Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino to the presidency, whose death, likewise, catapulted her son and Kris’ brother, Benigno Aquino III to the presidency.

With at least 4 grown men with their tails tied behind their, well, you can provide the adjectives, one would be pressed to submit a pattern on the affairs of the heart of Kris Aquino.

But, just like the Philippine electorate, the public continues to side with Kris Aquino.

What is evident, however, is that Kris seems to have a propensity for men who were former or current basketball players, showbiz personalities, married men, a reputation for womanizing, intelligent, and great in bed.

Am I next on her sight?

Of course she doesn’t need to know that:

1. I was a benched all throughout my basketball career, faking injuries left and right;

2. I had a brief stint as a movie extra that if you blinked you would have missed my entire showbiz career;

3. My reputation with women chasing me was because I paid them to chase me;

4. I had smart ways to copy from really, really intelligent people;

5. My greatness in bed stems from the fact that I could sleep anytime I want to.

But let’s not tell her that.

  1. This is the product of growing up without a father to support her. Let’s just pray that she will find herself and have a peaceful and happy family. May she find the right person to love and for the rest of her life.

    • Hi Suzette,

      Sorry for the late reply as internet connection has been intermittent in Baguio City. It’s sad, really, how her life’s journey has been met with so many challenges but, yes, we do wish her well.
